The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), is a private, nonprofit grantmaking foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the globe. With an annual appropriation from Congress, NED makes more than 2,000 grants to support the projects of nongovernmental groups abroad who are working for democratic goals in more than 100 countries.  Governed by an independent Board of Directors, NED holds a unique role as America’s leading foundation for freedom, empowering the institution to be nimble, innovative, and risk-taking in support of democratic activists, civil society organizations, independent media, and the NED family core institutes (the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute, the Center for International Private Enterprise, and the Solidarity Center). We seek a motivated, energetic, organized, and resourceful Events Producer, who is a mission-oriented team player, and who would be excited to join a growing and fast-paced Communications and Public Engagement team. This position is based in Washington, D.C.

Position Summary:

The Events Producer will support, plan, and implement events, conferences, and meetings at NED.  Based on the Communications and Public Engagement team, this role will collaborate across NED’s regional programs and other initiatives to amplify the voices of our partners and experts and help create engaging, inspiring events that align with our mission of strengthening democracy and human rights around the world.


  • Plan NED events and experiences from start to finish according to strategy, goals, and other objectives set by the Director of Events and NED Leadership.
  • Support Democracy Awards, Global Assembly for Democracy, and other major annual events
  • Assist with travel, catering, scheduling, AV and conference technology, invitation lists, financial paperwork, and all aspects of event planning.
  • Act as a liaison for AV, Office Services, communications, media relations, and other stakeholders at NED to effectively communicate goals and ensure events run smoothly.
  • Help team members on the Communications and Public Engagement team to create engaging content before and after each event.
  • Maintain a detailed Rolodex of vendors and build relationships with freelancers to hire for future NED events.
  • Ensure vendors are contracted and paid on time.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Public Engagement team and other NED departments, including regional programs, democracy support activities, Leadership, core institutes, partners, and other organizations.
  • Provide post-event recaps and metrics to measure success and help meet goals.



  • Bachelor’s Degree (in Film/Video Production or Communications a plus).
  • 2 + years of experience in event planning, production, or administration.
  • Familiarity with email marketing software such as Mailchimp, and experience using event ticketing and registration software such as Eventbrite.
  • Technical proficiency to help with AV equipment, live streaming, websites, and conference technology.

Other Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.
